Finished measurements flat across ribbed edge: Adult 9.5 inches wide, Child 8.5 inches wide.
Yarns used:
MC: Aran weight wool such as: Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica 100 g - 138 yds - 126 m, 50% wool 50% merino, Color deer brown, Color No 1, No. of balls 1.
CC1: DK weight wool such as: Rowan Scottish Tweed 50 g - 123yds - 112m, 100% wool, Color porridge, Color No 0024, No. of balls: 1. For antlers, not much is needed. Any
DK off-white 100% felting wool will work.
CC2: 4-ply Fingering weight yarn such as: Rowan Pure Wool 4-ply, 50 g - 174 yds - 159 m, 100% wool, Color pale pink, Color No 447. Any pale pink 4-ply in any fiber for the inside of the ears will work and you don’t need much. I held it with a strand of Rowan Kidsilk Haze to give it fuzziness.
Notions:
A pair of 6.5mm (US 10.5) circ ndls 40cm/16” long.
A pair of 3.75mm (US 5) needles for pink inner ear
A set of 6.5mm (US 10.5) dpns for ears
A set of 5.5mm (US 9) dpns for antlers
stitch markers, tapestry needle, needle and white thread to attach antlers.
Tension/gauge: Work 14 sts and 18 rows to measure 4x4” in St st using US 10.5 (6.5 mm) needles with MC. Don’t be afraid to go up a needle size to get gauge as this is aran wool knitted loosely to a bulkier gauge.
