Inspired to work vintage design, I found the original pattern made a lot of assumptions and was a bit confusing.  Worked in its original format, this pattern has been re-sized for today's popular DK and Aran weight yarns.

Simply omit the eyelet pattern and work completely in stockinette stitch throughout for a boy.  Replace the heavy crochet edging with a simple single crochet edge in a contrasting color.

Sizes & Supplies:

6 months size - use DK weight yarn (20” chest size)
3 skeins Cashmere Merino Silk DK (127 yards) by Sublime
Size 6 needle or needle size to obtain gauge of 21 sts = 4 inches
Size G crochet hook
1 button

12 months size - use Aran weight yarn (24” chest size)
4 skeins Cashmere Merino Silk Aran (94 yards) by Sublime
Size 8 needle or needle size to obtain gauge of 18 sts = 4 inches
Size H crochet hook
