Loading... Please wait...A sassy striped shawl with lots of options for customization! Pick your size - a classic triangle, two triangles stuck together (slit square), or three triangles stuck together (mushy starfish), pick your sock yarns (just about anything’ll do!), pick your edging, and put the stripes wherever you want ‘em! (I’ll tell you where I did them, of course, but improvisation is easy and welcome.) The somewhat crafty striping method allows you to do stripes with odd numbers of rows, for a delightfully gradient look. You could even get crazy and use more than three colors.
Yarn: 3 100g skeins of fingering weight yarn. Larger sample is shown in Malabrigo Sock, Turner (green), Indiecita (blue) and Rayon Vert (purple.) Smaller sample is shown in a custom handdye (copper), Hazelknits Artisan Sock in Wheatberry (gold) and Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in a rare-gems colorway.(For the smalller size, you can probably get away with less than a full skein, especially of the first color.)
Needles: Size US 7/4.5mm circular needles, at least 24” (a 32” or 40” may be more comfortable for the large size.) You will be working flat, but you’ll need circulars to do the striping and fit all the stitches.
Other tools: Darning needle for weaving ends, stitch markers, crochet hook if you wish to do crocheted border
Gauge: 20 st and 32 rows in 4 inches (but is really not too crucial.)
